Winning in the Auction House
Written by Jon.

This video goes deep into the auction house tactics you will use to dominate the economy on your server. It’s about 16 minutes long, and it includes examples of my 10 Best Auction House Practices and the 10 Most Costly Auction House Mistakes. These are concepts I present in Modules 2 and 3 of the Massive Gold Blueprint.

The “Wise Guy” pricing method I show you here is something you should start using right away. It gives you the “lowest price in the auction house” - so your stuff sells first - without lowering the actual selling price or dragging down the market at all.

wow, that’s truly amazing. I thought I knew how to get gold. But when you said the worst mistake is to relist blues and greens I was shocked. Can’t wait till the blueprints comes out.

in the guide, are there anything about limited vendor recipies? Would be nice..

    Hiya Grogthar -

Yes, for sure… I cover limited supply vendor stuff in detail. Not just recipes (which are great), but limited supply trade goods too. These are often overlooked, but very good profit-makers in some cases. In the Blueprint, I focus on the limited supply stuff you can get easily in the major cities, because the whole plan is built around using just low-level toons (so your main characters can stick to playing). But I’m including references to the best of the limited supply items that you can get with higher level characters.

    1) auction house tactics
    2) cross faction tradeing (best way to get it over to the other side)

YEA I’ll be in line for this one when it comes out Thanks again for the long hard work you have put into this guide CAN’T WAIT !!

Thanks, Dan, for the great comments. I’m glad my methods are working so well for you.

Auction House Tactics is a huge topic, I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to get into that in the Q&A call (which I’ll be doing live on the Web and by phone, Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. Eastern / 5 p.m. Pacific - I’ll post in this blog with the URL any minute now). But I’ve got a ton of stuff in the Blueprint.

Lots on Cross Faction trading in the Blueprint too. I’ll give some tips on the Q&A call. My basic method for moving a lot of Gold across is to buy expensive enchant materials such as Large Prismatic Shards, Void Crystals, Large Brilliant Shards etc., instant-sell them on the Neutral Auction house for 2 or 3 copper each, maximum duration (less chance of getting poached that way). Always try to trade goods not Gold through the AH, because you don’t want to pay the big commission fee percentage (if you price at 2 or 3 copper, you pay no fees at all).

“Instant Sell” is important, which means you have your two opposing Neutral AH characters logged in at the same time (2 computers, or run two instances of the game on one computer). If you have to re-log in order to access your second account, then you’ll be better off trading the Gold instead (sell cheap items at very high prices). No danger of losing your stuff that way.

When you are cross trading goods, always try to make a profit on the move, ie watch for a good buy Horde side on Large Prismatics, buy ‘em all out, trade them to the Alliance, and sell at a higher price. You can make a killing this way, while you move the accumulated gold to where you want it… all without paying a chunk of your profits in commission fees.

Hmm interesting videos aside from when are you going to release this, interested obviously from an affiliate perspective..

anyways, I thought You couldn’t have an alliance or a horde char both on same server?

If so then what you are saying is you need an alt at the neutral Ah either gadget or booty bay, how you getting a level 1 alt to booty bay without getting ganked?

Ok so you need both a horde neutral AH alt and an Alliance AH alt both sitting at the same place for the sell?

    Thanks
    Troy

    Hiya Troy -

All detailed in the videos, but I’ll try to answer briefly.

On a PvE server you can have both Horde and Alliance characters on the same account, but you can’t buy your own auctions. So you need access to a second account (or a partner, which is easy to find) to do the trades.

And yes, you need the two characters logged in at the same time, at a Neutral auction house (2 accounts) to make transactions safely.

On a PvP server, you can’t have opposing faction characters on the same account at all. So you really must get a second account, or work closely with a partner.

It’s easy to get a Horde character (Level 1) to Booty Bay - 5 minutes max (there’s a trick to it, need to show rather than explain in text - but simple). Getting Alliance to Booty Bay is a bit slow, you have to swim from Westfall. Approx 30 minutes including the run from Elwyn Forest.

    Hi Jon.

Once again another great Preview Video, really opened my eyes and answered a lot of questions i had about auction house trading.

A question though, i may have missed an email or post regarding this, but where will we be able to access the online feed for the Q+A, and given i’m from another country, there is no chance of a call for me unfortunately.

    Thanks,

    Daniel.

    Hey Daniel -

Glad you’re enjoying the videos… I’ve had a lot of fun making them!

The Questions Answered call is Wednesday evening (May 21), and everything happens on this page:

    http://www.massivewowgold.com/preview/call1.html

You can listen live on the Web (streaming audio), and then the same page will have a replay of the whole call afterwards. The replay should be up about an hour after I finish.

I think this is the first time anyone has done a call like this for Warcraft players. I’m pumped :)

Herbs is pronounced Herbs in England (where the language comes from)

its only pronounced ‘erbs’ in the usa

i think the reason we pronounce it herbs…. is erm… cause there’s the letter H in it.

Sorry i know this is a bit mean but what a ridiculous comment by Popular in the first place….. wound me right up.

    Videos are great thanks :)

I was looking for a little bit easier way to make gold. I was working the midnight shift and nothing was going on. I saw you video on the 10 good/bad AH Practice. I had auctioneer already but never really took the time to play around with it, also I never really paid attention to the percentages either. I was really driving down the prices on my server because I would see the lowest price and under cut them. After watching your “Winning in the AH video” I have made in excess of 500g in about 2 days, I also can tell there are a lot of people that don’t know how to play the AH. I started taking note on the items and how many on one item people had in there.

Great job and keep the videos coming.
