The Price Extremes Really ARE “Insane”
Buy stuff on the auction house for about 20 silver, turn around and sell for 50g? I’ll do that all day long, if I get the chance.
Right now, with Darkmoon Faire cards and decks that can be used for “Insane in the Membrane” achievement reputation grinding before the Cataclysm expansion arrives, there are plenty of chances to land that kind of windfall.
I’m seeing crazy extremes in the prices for DMF cards and decks right now, and there’s a good chance you’ll find the same on your server, too. The kind of thing you’re looking for is the low-end cards that can be made into decks to turn in for reputation with Darkmoon Faire, and it is *hot* right now because there are still people panicking to get the Insane in the Membrane Feat of Strength done.
Let’s look at the Swords Deck for an example. You need the Ace, Two, Three, and Four of Swords to make the complete deck of Swords. I found the Two, the Four, and the Ace for 3s each! So of course I just picked those up right away. Now all I have to do is put the Three, which I wasn’t able to buy, on my list to watch on that server. Then get a complete set, make it up… the thing is these are going to sell for 50g as a complete deck, so the profits are fairly “Insane” when you see this kind of price.
On another server, another faction, there was a much more normal situation. The individual cards were 4g to 6g. But the decks are going for 50g and there are only a couple of them available. So you could easily put together a deck for less than 25g and double your investment and this is typically what you’re going to see.
Now just imagine doing the cross-faction move on this particular situation. You could buy for a few silver on one side of the Auction House and cross it over and sell the decks for 50g or even just sell the cards at a profit. So you can see that there is some pretty extreme volatility, extreme range of prices and that equals huge opportunity. So definitely check this out. Of course Swords would not be the only target; you also want to look at things like the Rogues Deck and the epic decks of Undeath, Chaos and Prisms. Refer back to the “Insane Gold” update, if you need a refresher on what this is all about.
But again, you’ll see this all over the map. You’ll find cheap prices alongside high prices for the cards. The point is to work the arbitrage. That is, buying the cheap components, making it up and converting it into the complete deck, and making a big profit on the turn around on the conversion.
